Make Good Choices, conceived and developed by commission past President Jerry Hoggatt as an awareness program utilizing posters in schools, billboards and media public service messages, has expanded considerably. The current Make Good Choices committee is comprised of five commission members who develop projects and proposals for Board approval. Most recently the committee worked with commission member Randy Leonard of Print Master who printed, as a contribution, 400 posters with Make Good Choices messages which were designed by commission board member Ms. Shirley Harrold-Albright, partner, Craghead & Harrold Inc. Advertising Agency and distributed to every school in Sedgwick County.

As part of Make Good Choices, for the past several years the Commission has worked closely with Wichita Police School Liaison and School Resource Officers in sponsoring bus trips for students to tour Kansas Correctional Facilities at Hutchinson and Topeka. All Students are from Middle and High Schools and are selected by the School Resource Officers. The Commission underwrites the transportation cost and lunch for the students.
Attendee evaluation sheets suggest this is a powerful and eye opening experience for the young people. Crime Commission members continue to make direct contributions to the program and the proceeds of the annual Scotch & Sirloin Restaurant Benefit Golf Tournament are used in the program as well. The 2008 golf tournament will be held on Monday, September 15th at Willowbend Golf Club, 8001 Mulberry Dr.
